It seems appropriate to start my blog explaining the title: Luminous Immensity. It describes my artistic appraisal of both the physical/cosmic universe as well as the universe infinitely present within all of us. When I feel my place in this radiant and grand cosmos, I am happy, grounded, and life is satisfying to me. When I lose my place, I feel anxious and angst-ridden, traumatized, depressed, and bitter about my mortality. It’s apparent to me that I want to spend the rest of my life celebrating the luminous immensity in which I find myself.
One of the best spokespersons I know for an understanding of the universe that is revelatory, mind-blowing, sacred and full of wonderment is Brian T. Swimme (http://www.storyoftheuniverse.org/). His recent movie, Journey of the Universe, shown on PBS, and his many books bring an eloquent and poetic perspective about this luminous immensity. To his mind, we humans are some of the billions of elegant explosions of energy that characterize the nature of the universe. Now, that’s a world I want to inhabit!
I have purposed that no matter the topic, each posting I make on this blog will be one of gratitude. I also want to make the point that my blog is a meditation, a poem. It is not a treatise, a scholarly effort, or an argument. You may disagree with what I write, and you are welcome to do so. However, it is my poetry, my meditation, and I hope an encouragement to others to engage in their own meditative meaning-making and to finding their connection with an immense luminosity of their own.
Blessings and Peace,
Karyn
